“FARE-PAY” is the new, smarter way to pay for your NJ TRANSIT trip.
Available starting April 19 at Allwood, Mother’s, Willowbrook and Wayne/Route 23 Park & Rides, as well as all Newark Light Rail stations, customers can receive a monthly pass loaded to the FARE-PAY card at these Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs).
Beginning May 1 customers may also load a 10-trip ticket or cash value on the reuseable FARE-PAY card at these locations. Just tap your FARE-PAY card at validators on board NJ TRANSIT buses, no paper ticket or exact change required! Bus customers should inform the operator of their discount status and destination when boarding to ensure the proper fare is charged.
To use your FARE-PAY card with value or a 10-trip for travel on Newark Light Rail simply tap your FARE-PAY card at the platform validator. Use a monthly pass stored to your FARE-PAY card just as you do now when traveling Newark Light Rail. When requested by the Fare Inspector simply tap the card on the inspector validation reader.
Plus, you can register your FARE-PAY card for added benefits including protection from loss and to automatically apply the Newark Light Rail underground fare or senior and disabled fare discounts.
Once all card value or tickets are used, reload it at one of the TVM locations and keep going. Visit njtransit.com/farepay to learn how to register your card for added benefits or for details and more information including answers to frequently asked questions.
