New Brunswick Station: Escalator Upgrades Project and Staircase Closure - Effective Immediately

Effective Monday, November 13, and continuing through the end of July 2024, the escalator located within the station building, servicing the Eastbound Platform, will be closed and the surrounding areas by the escalator will be barricaded. Additionally, the east-end staircase on the westbound platform (Somerset and George streets) remains closed until further notice.

Eastbound (to Newark/New York) Platform Access:

  • Customers must use the staircases located at each end of the eastbound platform (to Newark/New York) to exit, including the newly reopened staircase at Easton Avenue and Route 27.

Additional Information:

  • Until July 2024, access to the platform and waiting room/ticket window, on the 2nd floor of the station building, will only be available via the Easton Avenue station door entrance. The Eastbound staircase on George Street will also remain open and available to access the Eastbound platform.
  • Until July 2024, the Albany Street station door entrance will only access the Dunkin Donuts and Redwood Florist Flower Shop vendors.
  • Until July 2024, the Easton Avenue station entrance door, the interior pedestrian tunnel, and station interior staircase may be temporarily closed if the work zone is not secured overnight. The exterior staircase tower located across Easton Avenue will be available to access the Eastbound platform. The Eastbound staircase on George Street will also be available.

Accessibility Access:

  • ADA access to the Eastbound Platform will be provided by the elevator tower adjacent the station building (by Easton Avenue) and elevator tower located east of the station building adjacent the Johnson & Johnson parking deck.

Please allow for extra travel time, and for your safety, obey posted signs, and do not travel through barricaded areas.

We thank you for your patience as we continue to expand and enhance New Brunswick Station.
