TEMPORARY CHANGES TO 505 BUS ROUTE DUE TO DORSET AVENUE BRIDGE CLOSURE

Service to Ventnor Plaza to be suspended for bridge repairs

December 24, 2009
NJT-09-139

NEWARK, NJ — NJ TRANSIT’s 505 bus line, which operates between Atlantic City and Longport, will temporarily suspend service to Ventnor Plaza via Dorset Avenue starting on or about January 4, 2010, while repairs are made to the Dorset Avenue bridge.

The affected segment of the No. 505 route stretches about 12 blocks from Ventnor Avenue to the shopping plaza on Wellington Avenue in the Ventnor Heights section of Ventnor City.  A detour schedule will be in effect during the construction period, which will be posted online at njtransit.com.

The bridge is expected to be re-opened to motor vehicles in the early spring, when
NJ TRANSIT will reinstate service along Dorset Avenue.  Except for limited periods, pedestrians will be able to cross the bridge throughout the repair project.

Ventnor Heights and the shopping plaza will continue to be served by the No. 504 bus, which operates from Bungalow Park/Chelsea Heights to Ventnor Plaza.  That line accesses Wellington Avenue and the plaza via Albany Avenue in Atlantic City.

Customers can transfer between the No. 505 and the No. 504 at Atlantic and Boston avenues in Atlantic City.
