SERVICE ALERT: MONTCLAIR-BOONTON LINE RAIL SERVICE RESTORED BETWEEN DENVILLE AND MSU FOR MONDAY MORNING

NEWARK, NJ — NJ TRANSIT today announced that rail service on a portion of the Montclair-Boonton Line will resume on Monday morning, May 5, after repairs were completed to a track washout caused by severe flooding along the railroad early Thursday morning disrupting service between Denville and Montclair State University rail stations.  The first train, Train number 1070, will leave Denville rail station at 5:48 a.m. on Monday.

Montclair-Boonton Line service was disrupted starting at approximately 1 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, due to a washout between Boonton and Towaco stations, where the stone ballast that supports the rails was washed away because of severe flooding.  Repair work required an engineering assessment, excavation of a compromised drain pipe, backfilling of ballast and surfacing of the track bed.
