NJ TRANSIT STATEMENT REGARDING INCIDENT IN NEW YORK

NEWARK, NJ — At approximately 10:50 this morning, Midtown Direct train 6621 departing Penn Station New York, experienced a slow-speed derailment just prior to entering the tunnel. The cause is under investigation.
About 300 passengers were on the train; there were no reported injuries. All customers were safely detrained and walked to the station where they were re-accommodated accordingly.
Midtown Direct train 6621 left New York Penn Station at 10:45 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Dover at 12:23 p.m.
