NEWARK, NJ - NJ TRANSIT will modify rail service on Tuesday, December 28, as a result of ongoing weather impacts and expected low ridership.  On Tuesday, trains will continue to operate on an enhanced weekend schedule on all lines except the Atlantic City Rail Line.  NJ TRANSIT will add several trains on selected lines

NEWARK, NJ - NJ TRANSIT service status as of 8:40 a.m. Monday, December 27:

  • North Jersey Coast Line service will be restored with the 9:05 a.m. departure from Long Branch and the 9:07 a.m. departure from New York.
  • Rail service is operating on an enhanced weekend schedule on all other lines except the Atlantic City Rail Line. Visit njtransit.com for schedule details. Atlantic City Rail Line service will follow a regular weekday schedule.  Service on NJ TRANSIT rail lines is subject to 15-30 minute delays due to weather conditions.  Click here for up-to-the-minute rail service information
  • Hudson-Bergen Light Rail service is suspended systemwide due to weather-related operating conditions.
  • Bus service remains suspended systemwide until further notice. There is currently no estimate on when bus service may be restored.
  • Newark Light Rail is operating on a modified schedule with trains every 20-30 minutes.
  • River Line is suspended between Walter Rand Transportation Center and Waterfront Entertainment Center stations due to snow accumulation. Service is operating normally between Walter Rand Transportation Center and Trenton.
  • Access Link paratransit service is suspended on Monday, December 27.

  • Customers should travel only if absolutely necessary.

  • Allow plenty of extra travel time. Delays and service changes are possible.
  • Use extreme caution when walking on exposed sidewalks, parking lots or station platforms and when boarding trains and buses.
  • Listen closely to public address announcements at stations for late-breaking service information.
  • If you park, ensure your car is stocked with a snow brush and ice scraper so you can clear your car upon returning to the lot.
  • Report slippery or unsafe conditions to bus operators, train crews or NJ TRANSIT staff.
  • Local jurisdictions are responsible for clearing bus stops. Local residents can help their neighbors by shoveling the bus stops along the sidewalks near their homes so that people are not standing in the icy streets while traffic is passing.

All NJ TRANSIT bus service remains suspended systemwide due to unsafe conditions and impassable roads.  All bus service will resume operations at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday.  Customers are advised to expect delays based on local road conditions.  
 

All Access Link paratransit service will remain suspended on Tuesday.  Service will be restored on Wednesday.

 

River Line service has been restored and is operating normally between Trenton and Camden.

 

NJ TRANSIT service status as of 6:45 p.m. Monday, December 27:

  • Rail service is operating on all lines, subject to 15-minute delays due to weather conditions.  Trains are following an enhanced weekend schedule.
  • Limited Hudson-Bergen Light Rail service has been restored only between Tonnelle Avenue and Hoboken Terminal, and between 22nd Street and Harborside Financial Center.  Trains are operating every 30-45 minutes.
  • Newark Light Rail is operating every 25-30 minutes.
  • River Line is operating on a regular schedule.
  • Access Link paratransit service is suspended on Monday, December 27, and Tuesday, December 28. 

Systemwide Cross-Honoring in Effect

 

To give customers additional travel options during winter weather conditions, NJ TRANSIT has extended full systemwide cross-honoring until further notice, enabling customers to use their ticket or pass on an alternate travel mode—rail, bus or light rail.  For example, customers who normally take the bus from Rutherford to the Port Authority Bus Terminal may use their bus pass on the train from Rutherford to New York Penn Station. Similarly, customers who normally take the bus between Atlantic City and Lindenwold may use the Atlantic City Rail Line instead.
