NJ TRANSIT REROUTES NO. 313 BUS & NO. 412 BUS TO BETTER SERVE ROWAN UNIVERSITY

First Ever Sunday Bus Service is on the Way

GLASSBORO, NJ, OCTOBER 30, 2002 -- Rowan University will soon welcome a new addition to its campus community – the No. 313 bus. Beginning January 4, 2003, NJ TRANSIT will reroute the bus line into the university’s campus, providing weekday and weekend service, including the campus’ first ever Sunday bus service to and from Philadelphia.

In addition, NJ TRANSIT has added four new stops on its No. 412 bus route following requests made by Rowan University and Gloucester County officials. The new stops provide the university with its first direct bus service into the campus. The reroute adds two new stops – one in each direction – on US Route 322 in front of Bunce Hall on Rowan’s campus, while two additional stops – one in each direction – were added on Bowe Boulevard at Carpenter Street to serve the dormitories in the area. The No. 313 bus will follow the same route. Previously, riders would have to go off campus to ride the buses.

“The rerouting of the No. 412 and the No. 313 buses are a part of NJ TRANSIT’s “back to basics” initiative of putting our customers first by making public transportation more accessible to those who depend on it,” said NJ TRANSIT Executive Director George Warrington. “The Corporation will continue to work closely with the communities we serve to enhance and expand services on our bus lines where they are needed.”

“We are pleased that the New Jersey Department of Transportation and NJ TRANSIT saw Rowan University’s need to have convenient bus service and took the necessary steps to accommodate our community,” said Rowan University President Donald Farish. “The new service gives students and faculty members more travel options to and from Rowa
