NJ TRANSIT RAIL SERVICE ADJUSTMENTS DUE TO WINTER STORM

NEWARK, NJ — Due to low ridership and the continuing effects of extreme winter weather, NJ TRANSIT rail service will be modified during the afternoon and evening hours today.  Customers are advised of the following:

 

Rail service will be reduced after 4 p.m.  Some trains will be combined and others will be cancelled.  Customers should allow extra travel time and check njtransit.com before traveling.  Customers who transfer at Secaucus Junction, Newark Penn or Newark Broad Street stations should also check for changes to connecting service.

 

Northeast Corridor:  Trains terminating at Jersey Avenue Station will be cancelled this afternoon/evening.  Jersey Avenue Station will remain open for passengers returning via Trenton-bound trains.

 

From New York

  • Train 3721, the 4:07 p.m. New York departure, will be cancelled.  Customers may use Train 3861, the 4:27 p.m. New York departure, which will add a Jersey Avenue stop.
  • Train 3723, the 4:32 p.m. New York departure, will be cancelled.  Customers may use Train 3961, the 4:36 p.m. departure, which will add stops at Metropark, Metuchen, Edison, New Brunswick and Jersey Avenue.
  • Train 3725, the 5:12 p.m. New York departure, will be cancelled.  Customers may use Train 3965, the 5:15 p.m. New York departure, which will add stops at Metropark, Metuchen, Edison, New Brunswick and Jersey Avenue.
  • Train 3729, the 5:54 p.m. New York departure, will be cancelled.  Customers may use Train 3971, the 6:03 p.m. New York departure, which will add stops at Metropark, Metuchen, Edison, New Brunswick and Jersey Avenue.
  • Train 3731, the 6:36 p.m. New York departure, will be cancelled.  Customers may use Train 3975, the 6:38 p.m. departure, which will add stops at Secaucus, Newark Airport, Metropark, Metuchen, Edison, New Brunswick and Jersey Avenue.
  • Train 3737, the 9:54 p.m. New York departure, will be cancelled.  Customers may use Train 3891, the 10:11 p.m. New York departure, which will add stops at North Elizabeth, Elizabeth and Linden.

 

To New York

  • Train 3738, the 6:15 p.m. New York arrival, will be cancelled.  Customers may use Train 3866.
  • Train 3742, the 12:19 a.m. New York arrival, will be cancelled.  Customers may use Train 3888.

 

Morris & Essex Lines MidTown Direct:  The following trains will be cancelled and/or combined:

 

From New York

  • Train 6341, the 4:12 p.m. New York departure, will be cancelled.  Customers may use Train 6641, the 4:09 p.m. New York departure, which will make local stops via the Morris & Essex Lines to Dover.
  • Train 6343, the 4:43 p.m. New York departure, will be cancelled.  Customers may use Train 6643, the 4:50 p.m. New York departure, which will add Secaucus and make local stops via the Morris & Essex Lines to Dover.
  • Train 6653, the 6:09 p.m. New York departure, will be cancelled.  Customers may use Train 6655, the 6:16 p.m. New York departure to connect to Train 437, which will be held at Summit for the connection. 
  • Train 6359, the 6:43 p.m. New York departure, will be cancelled.  Customers may use Train 6659, the 6:54 p.m. New York departure, which will add a Secaucus stop and make local stops via the Morris & Essex Lines to Dover.
  • Train 6363, the 7:15 p.m. New York departure, will be cancelled.  Customers may use Train 6663, the 7:22 p.m. New York departure, which will add a Secaucus stop and make local stops via the Morris & Essex Lines to Dover.
  • Train 6677, the 10:13 p.m. New York departure will be cancelled.  Customers may Train 6297, the 10:32 New York departure, to connect to Train 451.   Or they may use Train 6679, the 10:49 p.m. New York departure.

 

To New York

  • Train 6674, the 8:22 p.m. Dover departure, will be cancelled.  Customers may use Train 6676, the 9:37 p.m. Dover departure.  Or they may use Train 884 to connect to Train 6274, which will be held at Newark Broad Street for the connection.
