Detectives need public¿s help on suspect¿s whereabouts

NEWARK, NJ ¿ NJ TRANSIT Police Chief Joseph C. Bober today asked the public to share information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect wanted in connection with the March 8 shooting at Orange Street Station on the Newark City Subway.

The suspect has been identified as 19-year-old Nakia L. Scott of Newark, N.J. A warrant for Scott¿s arrest has been issued by Essex County Superior Court.

A 37-year-old woman was shot while she waited for a subway train at the Orange Street Station at 5:15 p.m. The victim was waiting with her daughter and a friend when she was struck by a single bullet. She was taken to University Hospital, where she was treated and released. Another woman, 18, was grazed with a bullet as she stood with her three-year-old son; she did not request medical attention.
