NJ TRANSIT POLICE TO CONDUCT EMERGENCY RESPONSE DRILL SUNDAY MORNING ON THE RIVER LINE

Exercise to take place on the light rail tracks in Hamilton Township

NEWARK, NJ — The NJ TRANSIT Police Department, together with state and local partners, will conduct a training exercise on Sunday, July 29, along the River Line tracks in Hamilton Township to test a response from multiple agencies to a simulated train incident.

Also participating in the exercise will be the Hamilton Fire Department; Hamilton Police Department; Hamilton Office of Emergency Management; Mercer County Office of Emergency Management; NJ EMS Taskforce; Robert Wood Johnson EMS; NJ State Park Police Department; and the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.

The exercise will begin at approximately 9 a.m. and take about three hours to complete. During the exercise, River Line trains will not operate between Bordentown and Cass Street stations.  Customers will have to board buses for service between these stations.

In addition, customers may notice police and emergency personnel, and local residents may see activity in the staging areas along Route 29 and Lamberton Road.

Light rail service will resume normal operations at 12 p.m., after the exercise is complete.
