NJ TRANSIT EXTRA SERVICE MAKES ST. PATRICK'S A LUCKY DAY

Extra Trains and Buses for Saturday's New York Parade

NEWARK, NJ, March 15, 2002 -- Heading to New York for the "wearing o' the green" on Saturday, March 16th? Join thousands of other "leprechauns" traveling to the annual St. Patrick's Day parade for a ride on NJ TRANSIT.

The Corporation will provide additional bus service to and from New York on the no. 126, 139, 163, 164, 165, 166, 167, 192, 193 and 197 routes. To speed up boarding at the Port Authority Bus Terminal (PABT) after the parade, purchase a round-trip ticket on the New York-bound bus or upon arriving at the PABT.

Additional rail service will also be provided to and from the parade on the Bergen County, MidTOWN Direct, Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast and Port Jervis lines.

Northeast Corridor

 

  • Additional trains will depart New Brunswick at 7:34 a.m., 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. These trains will make all stops to Metropark, then will operate express to Newark Penn Station and New York, arriving in New York at 8:27 a.m., 9:16 a.m. and 10:16 a.m., respectively.
  • Additional trains will depart New York at 1:03 p.m., 2:03 p.m. and 3:03 p.m. After stopping at Newark Penn Station, these trains will operate express to Metropark and make all stops to Trenton except Jersey Avenue. They will arrive in Trenton at 2:19 p.m., 3:18 p.m. and 4:19 p.m. respectively.

North Jersey Coast Line

 

  • An additional train will depart Long Branch at 7:20 a.m. and will make all stops to New York except Avenel, North Elizabeth and Newark International Airport. This train will arrive in New York at 8:51 a.m.
  • An additional train will depart New York at 5:06 p.m., making all stops to Long Branch except Newark International Airport, North Elizabeth and Avenel. This train will arrive in Long Branch at 6:36 p.m.

MidTOWN Direct

 

  • Trains will depart Gladstone at 7:18 a.m. and 8:18 a.m. and make all stops to New York except Mountain, Highland Avenue, Orange and East Orange stations. These trains will arrive in New York at 8:54 a.m. and 9:54 a.m., respectively.
  • An additional train will depart Dover at 7:55 a.m. and make all stops to Summit, then operate express to Newark Broad Street and New York. This train will arrive in New York at 9:10 a.m.
  • An additional train will depart Dover at 8:55 a.m. and make all stops to New York except Mountain, Highland Avenue, Orange and East Orange stations. This train will arrive in New York at 10:18 a.m.
  • Additional Dover-bound trains will depart New York at 4:14 p.m. and 5:14 p.m. and make all stops to Dover except East Orange, Highland Avenue and Mountain stations. These trains will arrive in Dover at 5:41 p.m. and 6:41 p.m., respectively.
  • Trains to Gladstone will depart New York at 4:27 p.m. and 5:27 p.m., make all stops to Far Hills except East Orange, Orange, Highland Avenue and Mountain stations and arrive in Far Hills at 5:46 p.m. and 6:46 p.m., respectively. Passengers continuing to Peapack or Gladstone should wait approximately 20 minutes at Far Hills for the next train.

Bergen County, Main and Port Jervis Lines

 

  • An additional train will depart Port Jervis, NY at 6:59 a.m. and operate via the Port Jervis and Bergen County lines to Hoboken. This train will make all stops and will arrive in Hoboken at 9:27 a.m. At Hoboken, customers can transfer to PATH trains.
  • An additional train will depart Suffern, NY at 8:07 a.m. and make all stops along the Main Line except Delawanna. This train will arrive in Hoboken at 9:13 a.m. At Hoboken, customers can transfer to PATH trains.
  • An additional train will depart Hoboken at 4:23 p.m., operate express to Sloatsburg, NY, then make all stops to Port Jervis, NY. The train will arrive in Port Jervis at 6:37 p.m.
  • An additional train will depart Hoboken at 4:45 p.m., make all stops via the Main Line and arrive in Suffern, NY at 5:48 p.m.

NJ TRANSIT's bus and rail Weekend Family Super Saver Fare, which allows two children 11 and under to travel free with each fare-paying adult, will be in effect throughout the weekend. Senior citizen and round-trip excursion tickets will also be valid during this period.
