NJ TRANSIT CUSTOMER SERVICE AMBASSADORS TO ASSIST TRAVEL TO/FROM HASKELL INVITATIONAL

July 26, 2018

NEWARK, NJ – NJ TRANSIT is preparing for one of New Jersey’s premiere horse racing events, the Haskell Invitational Race, this Sunday, July 29, by deploying its Customer Service Ambassadors at Monmouth Park Station.

Customers attending the race should look for Ambassadors, who will be easily identifiable with yellow vests, for assistance with their travel needs.

“In this digital age, our dedicated employees provide the personal touch to customers, especially new customers at major events who may not be familiar with our system,’’ said Executive Director Kevin Corbett. “The Customer Service Ambassador Program allows a face-to-face interaction with an employee who can help with travel questions and point customers in the right direction. We’ve received a lot of positive feedback on this program. I can’t thank these volunteers enough for the positive impact they have on the customer experience.’’

NJ TRANSIT will be offering regular weekend service on July 29. Important Note:  Monmouth Park station is not equipped with Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs).  All customers are strongly encouraged to purchase round trip tickets from their point of origin to avoid the $5 surcharge when purchasing a ticket on-board.

NJ TRANSIT customers utilizing a TVM or ticket window at their point of origin can take advantage of a special Monmouth Park package offered throughout the racing season. Customers to the Haskell Invitational will save more than $5.50. The package includes an NJ TRANSIT round-trip ticket to Monmouth Park from any NJ TRANSIT rail station (excluding Atlantic City Rail Line stations), Grandstand Admission and an official track program for $3.50 plus the regular cost of a round-trip rail ticket.  Packages are also available for children, senior citizens and customers with disabilities.

This package can only be purchased at TVMs or ticket windows and is not available on the mobile app or from train crews.  Train tickets to/from Monmouth Park can still be purchased through the MyTix feature of the mobile app but applicable Monmouth Park admission fees will apply at the park’s entrance gate.

Travel Tips and Reminders for the Haskell Invitational:

  • Purchase your round trip tickets in advance.
  • Monmouth Park Station is not ADA accessible.
  • Give yourself plenty of time getting to and from the station.
  • Be prepared to experience longer than average wait times to board trains, particularly following the conclusion of the race.
