NJ TRANSIT ADDS MAP MY RIDE FEATURES FOR TRAINS AND BUSES ON MOBILE APP

Latest Update Provides Easy-to-See Locations of Trains and Buses to Improve Customer Experience

June 22, 2021

NEWARK, NJ – With its new Map My Ride feature, NJ TRANSIT is launching additional new capabilities in its mobile app that allow customers to track locations of their buses and trains. With a simple tap on their mobile device, customers can see the location of the next bus or train along with the estimated arrival time to their location. The mobile app update also provides enhanced integration with NJT Rewards, the program where customers can earn points for deals and discounts.

“These mobile app improvements demonstrate NJ TRANSIT’s strong focus on technology to improve every aspect of our customers’ experience,” said NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kevin S. Corbett. “We are committed to leveraging technology and improving the NJ TRANSIT mobile app and website to expand our customers’ access to transit information.”

With a simple tap on their mobile device to MyBus Maps, Bus customers can see the real-time location of the next bus to their stop. The Rail Maps option allows rail customers to track the location of their train in near real-time.

Mobile app customers can also easily access the new, free NJT Rewards program, which allows them to earn points for their ticket purchases redeemable for offers from participating vendors and attractions. Customers can now also use the mobile app to access other great deals NJ TRANSIT provides customers through its Deals & Discounts program, found at www.njtransit.com/deals.

The latest mobile app upgrade also improves Bus & Light Rail mobile app ticket compatibility with new Bus On-Board Validators and Light Rail Platform Validators. Barcodes on mobile app tickets will move to the top of the ticket, which will make it easier for customers who present their mobile devices in portrait orientation when displaying their digital tickets and passes. This will improve a customer’s experience and accelerate boarding time during interactions with scanners.

For more information on these new features and how to download the app, please visit njtransit.com/app. Customers who have already downloaded the app must update the app to make sure they have the latest version to access these features. Customers must have location services enabled on their phone for the new features to function properly.
