MOST NJ TRANSIT BUS SERVICE RESTORED AS OF 11 A.M.

Service remains suspended on some local Newark-area routes

NEWARK, NJ — Most NJ TRANSIT bus service has been restored across the state following earlier service suspensions due to local road conditions.

 

As of 11 a.m., Thursday, January 27, bus service has been restored EXCEPT for the following:

  • Bus Route Nos. 5, 34, 40, 41, 76, 94 and 108 in the Newark area
  • Local routes in Mercer County (These routes will be restored at 11:30 a.m.)  

Rail service is operating on all lines with scattered 10-15 minute delays.  Customers are reminded that train cancelations/combinations are possible throughout the day. 

 

Light Rail service:

  • Hudson-Bergen Light Rail is operating normally on a regular weekday schedule.
  • Newark Light Rail is operating normally between Grove Street and Penn Station.  Service remains suspended between Penn Station and Broad Street Station only.
  • River Line is operating on a Sunday schedule.  

Access Link paratransit service will remain suspended until Friday morning in the following service regions:

  • Region 2: Counties of Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem
  • Region 4: Counties of Mercer, Monmouth, Middlesex and northern Ocean 
  • Region 5: Counties of Essex, Morris, Somerset, Union and western Hudson
  • Region 6: Counties of Bergen, Passaic and eastern Hudson  

Though subject to possible delays, Access Link service will continue to be provided in Region 3 (Counties of Atlantic, Cape May and southern Ocean).

 

Systemwide Cross-Honoring in Effect:  To give customers additional travel options during winter weather conditions, NJ TRANSIT is offering full systemwide cross-honoring all day today, Thursday, January 27, enabling customers to use their ticket or pass on an alternate travel mode-rail, bus or light rail.  For example, customers who normally take the bus from Rutherford to the Port Authority Bus Terminal may use their buspass on the train from Rutherford to New York Penn Station.  Similarly, customers who normally take the bus between Atlantic City and Lindenwold may use the Atlantic City Rail Line instead at no additional charge.

  • Allow extra time getting to and from your station or bus stop.  Use extreme caution when walking on exposed sidewalks, parking lots and station platforms, as well as when boarding trains and buses.  Report slippery or unsafe conditions to bus operators, train crewmembers or other NJ TRANSIT personnel.
