January 26, 2005

NEWARK, NJ - Bergen County Line service will be temporarily suspended this weekend-from 2:00 a.m. Saturday through 5:00 a.m. Monday-to allow for bridge repairs. The suspension in service will affect customers boarding at Rutherford, Garfield, Plauderville, Broadway, Radburn and Glen Rock-Boro Hall.

Hourly local service will be maintained to and from Hoboken, Secaucus Junction, Ridgewood, Ho-Ho-Kus and Waldwick via the Main Line, with trains making all stops except at Delawanna. Also, Train 1786, the 11:49 p.m. Bergen County Line departure from Suffern, will make all stops on the Main Line except Delawanna.

Port Jervis Line trains 78, 75, and 69/41, which normally make local stops along the Bergen County Line, will make all stops on the Main Line except Delawanna.

The bridgework will ensure reliable operation (opening and closing) of the HX Drawbridge, which carries the Bergen County and Pascack Valley lines over the Hackensack River. The project is being conducted over a single weekend to minimize inconvenience to customers while providing crews with enough time to effect repairs.

Service on the Main Line will operate as scheduled, and customers should consider using Main Line trains as alternate transportation. In addition, the following NJ TRANSIT bus routes along the Bergen County Line will cross honor tickets and passes during the service suspension: 161, 163, 164, 171, 175, 190, 709, 746, 758 and 770. Customers can obtain detailed alternate bus information and boarding locations at www.njtransit.com. For further assistance, customers may call NJ TRANSIT at 1-800-772-2222.
