An Important Update about Recent Rail Service Issues

NJ TRANSIT recognizes the impact recent service disruptions have had on our customers and their families, and will continue to work jointly with Amtrak to identify the root causes of these disruptions and restore quality service and reliability for our customers as quickly as possible.

On June 27, 2024, Governor Murphy convened NJ TRANSIT and Amtrak leadership to announce the immediate execution of a joint plan to expedite investigations following the recent spike in rail service disruptions. This comprehensive and transparent analysis is designed to tackle recent challenges and devise effective solutions. We urge you to review the details here. You can also learn more about one of the causes of disruptions, rail catenary, at www.njtransit.com/catenary.

While NJ TRANSIT strives to deliver high-quality service, disruptions can still occur. We encourage you to take a moment to learn your ABC (Alternate, Back-up and Contingency) plans and stay in the know by signing up for real-time service updates. You can receive the latest updates for free via text messages and emails via My Transit Alerts, through the TRANSIT Mobile App (including push notifications), by visiting www.njtransit.com and monitoring Travel Alerts & Advisories for the latest service-related information, or by following us at @NJTRANSIT and line-specific accounts on “X” (formerly Twitter).
