Northeast Corridor & North Jersey Coast Line: Possible Delays due to Boarding/Detraining Adjustments – Beginning Friday, May 31, 2024

NOTE: WORK SCHEDULED FOR THE WEEKEND OF MAY 17-20 HAS BEEN CANCELED. TRAINS WILL PLATFORM NORMALLY THIS WEEKEND.

Possible delays of up to 15 minutes in eastbound (to Newark/New York) direction

Due to Amtrak switch replacement work, eastbound (to Newark/New York) customers will have adjusted detraining/boarding at Rahway, Linden, Elizabeth, and North Elizabeth as noted below.

NOTE: There will be no work during Memorial Day weekend (May 24-27, 2024).

LOW-LEVEL PLATFORMS – NO LEVEL BOARDING

Customers detraining/boarding at Rahway, Linden, Elizabeth and North Elizabeth will be required to use low-level platforms with no level-boarding or detraining available during the following dates/times:

  • 9PM Friday, May 17 until 6AM Saturday, May 18The switch replacement work for this day has been CANCELED.
  • 9PM Saturday, May 18 until 6AM Sunday, May 19The switch replacement work for this day has been CANCELED.
  • 9PM Sunday, May 19 until 5AM Monday, May 20The switch replacement work for this day has been CANCELED.
  • 9PM Friday, May 31 until 6AM Saturday, June 1
  • 9PM Saturday, June 1 until 6AM Sunday, June 2
  • 9PM Sunday, June 2 until 5AM Monday, June 3
  • 9PM Monday, June 3 until 5AM Tuesday, June 4
  • 9PM Friday, June 7 until 6AM Saturday, June 8
  • 9PM Saturday, June 8 until 6AM Sunday, June 9
  • 9PM Sunday, June 9 until 5AM Monday, June 10
  • 9PM Monday, June 10 until 5AM Tuesday, June 11

During these periods, customers requiring level boarding or detraining should do the following:

  • If you are traveling TO Rahway, Linden, Elizabeth and North Elizabeth from accessible Northeast Corridor stations (Trenton through Metropark): Detrain at Metropark and call 908-324-3517 to arrange for Access Link transport to your station.
  • If you are traveling TO Rahway, Linden, Elizabeth and North Elizabeth from accessible North Jersey Coast Line stations (Point Pleasant Beach through Woodbridge): Detrain at Woodbridge and call 908-324-3517 to arrange for Access Link transport to your station.
  • If you are traveling FROM Rahway, Linden, Elizabeth and North Elizabeth): Call 908-324-3517 to arrange for Access Link transport to Newark Airport Terminals A, B or C, to Newark Penn Station, or to Secaucus.
  • From Newark Penn Station, connections are available to:
    • NJ TRANSIT trains to Secaucus and Penn Station New York
    • NJ TRANSIT buses
    • NJ TRANSIT’s Newark Light Rail
    • PATH service to Harrison, Jersey City, Hoboken and New York
  • At Secaucus, connections are available to NJ TRANSIT Morris & Essex, Montclair-Boonton, Main, Bergen County, Port Jervis and Pascack Valley lines, as well as NJ TRANSIT trains to Penn Station New York.
  • Customers who will be continuing on connecting NJ TRANSIT or other services at Newark Penn Station, Secaucus or Penn Station New York should contact Access Link by 10:30PM to allow sufficient time to make their connections before service concludes for the night. 

PLATFORM EXTENSIONS

Customers will use platform extensions to detrain and board trains at North Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Linden, and Rahway stations from 6AM until 9PM on the following dates:

  • Saturday, May 18The switch replacement work for this day has been CANCELED.
  • Sunday, May 19The switch replacement work for this day has been CANCELED.
  • Saturday, June 1
  • Sunday, June 2

Level boarding and detraining will be available at all stations during these times. If you use Rahway, Linden, Elizabeth and North Elizabeth stations during these periods, please consult with uniformed crew members before boarding the train at the beginning of your trip.

Delays of up to 15 minutes are possible on eastbound NEC and NJCL trains from Rahway to New York during weekend days and all overnights for the duration of this project. Please allow for extra travel time.

Please use caution when boarding or detraining at the affected stations and follow the directions of train crews.
