NJ TRANSIT SERVICE UPDATE FOR MORRIS & ESSEX LINE FOR WEEKEND OF MARCH 12-13
Modified Weekend Schedule Will Operate Between South Orange and New York; Gladstone Branch Remains Suspended

NEWARK, NJ — NJ TRANSIT crews continue working around the clock to make the necessary repairs to overhead wires near Maplewood. The damage to the catenary structure was the result of a downed tree from Monday night’s strong winds. Due to the extensive damage caused by the fallen tree, a timeline for full restoration remains in progress. For Saturday and Sunday March 12-13, modified weekend service will operate between South Orange and Penn Station New York with regular weekend transfers to Montclair-Boonton Line trains at Newark Broad St. for Hoboken bound customers. The Gladstone Branch will remain suspended until further notice. Please see below for service information.
Cross-honoring will remain in effect for Morris & Essex (M&E) and Gladstone Branch customers on the Raritan Valley and Montclair-Boonton Lines as well as NJ TRANSIT & private carrier buses. The Montclair-Boonton Line will operate on a regular weekend schedule, which originates and terminates at Bay St. in Montclair.
All M&E customers should allow for extra travel time and are strongly encouraged to customize their service alerts on the NJ TRANSIT mobile app to receive updates via push notifications, monitor MyTransit Alerts, the M&E Twitter feed @NJTRANSIT_ME and njtransit.com for the latest service information.
Morris & Essex Line:
Modified weekend service will operate from South Orange to Penn Station New York with regular weekend transfers at Newark Broad St. to Montclair-Boonton Line trains for Hoboken bound customers.
The M&E schedules include modified departure times at stations between South Orange-East Orange. Eastbound, trains depart up to 12 minutes earlier than the regular weekend schedule, and arrive at Newark Broad St., Secaucus, and New York at their regular weekend times. Westbound, trains depart New York on their regular weekend times and arrive at South Orange 20 minutes later than the regular weekend schedule. All trains will stop at Mountain Station and Highland Avenue. The M&E modified weekend schedules are available HERE.
Customer service ambassadors will be available at South Orange and Newark Broad St. rail stations to assist customers.
Montclair-Boonton Line: Regular weekend service will operate, which originates and terminates at Bay St. in Montclair.
Gladstone Branch: Service remains suspended until further notice.
