NJ TRANSIT OFFERS EARLY GETAWAY BUS SERVICE ON PASSOVER EVE AND GOOD FRIDAY

NEWARK, NJNJ TRANSIT and Six Flags are teaming up to make it easy and affordable for thrill-seekers to get to the fun at Six Flags Great Adventure, Safari or Hurricane Harbor.  Families planning a 2013 visit to the park can avoid the hassle and expense of driving by taking advantage of NJ TRANSIT’s discounted travel packages for express bus service. 

 

Savings are available on select days throughout the 2013 season for bus customers using the No. 308 and No. 318 lines for travel to and from the park.  The No. 308 operates between the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York and Six Flags, with an intermediate stop at Newark Penn Station, and the No. 318 operates between the Philadelphia Greyhound Bus Terminal and Six Flags, with a stop at the Walter Rand Transportation Center in Camden.

NEWARK, NJNJ TRANSIT will offer early getaway bus service on Monday, March 25 and Friday, March 29 on selected routes for the benefit of customers observing Passover and Good Friday. 

 

On Passover Eve, Monday, March 25, buses will operate on a weekday schedule, with extra trips on selected bus routes from the Port Authority Bus Terminal and the Jersey City Waterfront between approximately 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.  Some peak period and later evening trips will not operate on some routes due to anticipated lower ridership.  Customers are advised to visit njtransit.com for details.

 

NJ TRANSIT customers can save up to $37 by purchasing round-trip bus transportation and park admission together.  Prices and total savings vary based on point of origin and admission package.

 

Service on the No. 308 will begin on Saturday, March 23 and will operate on all days when the park is open to the general public.  Service on the No. 318 will begin on Saturday, April 6 and will operate on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, with additional Friday service starting on June 28.

On Good Friday, March 29, bus schedules vary by route.  Selected routes will operate on special holiday schedules to match service with ridership demand, including early getaway service from the Port Authority Bus Terminal between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to accommodate the heaviest travel, with less frequent service during the peak periods and later in the evening due to lower ridership.  Early getaway service will also operate from the Jersey City Waterfront on the No. 64 and No. 68 bus routes from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.  Customers are advised to visit njtransit.com for schedule information, including special holiday timetables.    

 

Trains and light rail lines will operate on a regular weekday schedule on both Monday, March 25 and Friday, March 29.

Travel Tips

 

  • Ticketing:  To speed your return, purchase round-trip tickets at the start of your trip from bus operators inbound to New York or at ticket vending machines where available.  Bus customers departing Port Authority Bus Terminal are reminded that tickets must be purchased before boarding the bus. 
  • Plan Ahead:  Extra service will operate a few minutes ahead of regularly scheduled trips on the routes listed above.  Customers should arrive at their boarding location 10 minutes earlier than the departure time.
