NEW JERSEY TRANSIT POLICE TO CONDUCT EMERGENCY RESPONSE DRILL AT ELBERON RAIL STATION IN LONG BRANCH

NEWARK, NJThe New Jersey Transit Police Department’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM), together with federal, state, county and local partners, will conduct a training exercise on Saturday, November 3rd at the ELBERON RAIL STATION in Long Branch, NJ at 9 a.m.

The drill, which will gauge responses to a simulated transportation incident, will take approximately three (3) hours to complete. 

Important note: Between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 12 p.m., all trains will use the westbound track.  Customers will be required to board and disembark on the westbound platform. The pedestrian tunnel will be closed for the duration of the exercise, but customers will be able to cross at the street/platform level crossing.

Residents and customers are advised that they will see an increased presence of police and emergency personnel throughout the North Jersey Coast Line and particularly in the area of Elberon Station.

In addition to New Jersey Transit Police Department and NJ TRANSIT personnel, the following entities will also participate in the exercise: Long Branch Police Department; Long Branch Fire Department; Long Branch EMS; Long Branch OEM; Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department OEM; Monmouth County Fire Marshalls Office; Monmouth County EMS Coordinator; New Jersey State EMS Taskforce; and the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force.

The New Jersey Transit Police Department regularly conducts multiple drills and training sessions simulating various transportation scenarios throughout the statewide system.
