EXTRA TRAINS SET FOR JULY 3 KABOOM! FIREWORKS IN RED BANK

Customers encouraged to purchase ⿿Day Pass⿝ ticket in advance

NEWARK, NJ — NJ TRANSIT will operate nine additional North Jersey Coast Line trains on July 3 and will offer a special, convenient ticket option to accommodate spectators attending KaBoom! Fireworks on the Navesink in Red Bank.  The event is expected to attract record crowds, and NJ TRANSIT urges customers to purchase tickets in advance and check schedules to avoid lines and reduce crowding.

 

A weekend schedule will be in effect on July 3, supplemented by nine additional North Jersey Coast Line trains to and from Red Bank, made possible through a sponsorship by radio station HIT 106 FM.  Customers are encouraged to visit njtransit.com/kaboom for complete schedule information and important tips.

 

Beginning today, customers at North Jersey Coast Line stations from Point Pleasant Beach to Aberdeen-Matawan can purchase a special $6 “Day Pass” at ticket offices and ticket vending machines.  The Day Passes are valid for round-trip transportation between Red Bank and any other North Jersey Coast Line station as far north as Aberdeen-Matawan on July 3 only.  (Customers using Ticket Vending Machines should select “Special Promotions” on the touch-screen display.) 

To help ensure a safe, enjoyable trip, NJ TRANSIT is offering the following travel tips:

  • Plan Ahead.  NJ TRANSIT rail service will operate on a weekend schedule with additional trains to/from Red Bank.  Get your schedule information in advance at njtransit.com/kaboom.
  • Buy a Day Pass Before Traveling to Red Bank.  Remember, you’ll also need a ticket to get home.  Avoid lines by purchasing a $6 Day Pass in advance at North Jersey Coast Line Stations from Point Pleasant Beach to Aberdeen-Matawan.  Day Passes are valid for travel on July 3 for travel between Red Bank and any other North Jersey Coast Line station as far north as Aberdeen-Matawan.  To purchase a Day Pass at a Ticket Vending Machine, select “Special Promotions” on the touch-screen display.
  • Arrive Early.  Customers are encouraged to arrive as early as possible, and to expect crowds after the fireworks are over.  The busiest trains will be those immediately preceding and following the event.
  • Delays are possible.  Large crowds often have an impact on train operations.  Be courteous to your fellow riders by standing clear of the doors, moving all the way into the car, and making all seats available.
  • Know the Rules.  Due to crowding conditions, bicycles may not be carried aboard NJ TRANSIT trains on July 3.  As a reminder, smoking is not permitted aboard trains, in stations or on platforms.

Additional Service to Red Bank Before the Fireworks

In addition to regular weekend service on the North Jersey Coast Line, NJ TRANSIT will operate the following trains before the fireworks:

  • Train 8263 will depart Woodbridge at 6:22 p.m., stopping at Perth Amboy (6:28 p.m.), South Amboy (6:33 p.m.), Aberdeen-Matawan (6:42 p.m.), Hazlet (6:47 p.m.) and Middletown (6:54 p.m.) before arriving at Red Bank at 7:00 p.m.
  • Train 8267 will depart Aberdeen-Matawan at 7:42 p.m., stopping at Hazlet (7:47 p.m.) and Middletown (7:54 p.m.) before arriving at Red Bank at 8:00 p.m.
  • Train 8358 will depart Bay Head at 5:52 p.m., stopping at Point Pleasant Beach (5:56 p.m.), Manasquan (6:01 p.m.), Spring Lake (6:05 p.m.), Belmar (6:11 p.m.), Bradley Beach (6:16 p.m.), Asbury Park (6:19 p.m.), Allenhurst (6:24 p.m.) and Elberon (6:29 p.m.) before expressing to Red Bank where it will arrive at 6:45 p.m.
  • Train 8362 will depart Bay Head at 6:52 p.m., stopping at Point Pleasant Beach (6:56 p.m.), Manasquan (7:01 p.m.), Spring Lake (7:05 p.m.), Belmar (7:11 p.m.), Bradley Beach (7:16 p.m.), Asbury Park (7:19 p.m.), Allenhurst (7:24 p.m.) and Elberon (7:29 p.m.) before expressing to Red Bank where it will arrive at 7:45 p.m.
